The Fragonard museum's collections trace 3000 perfumery. Fragonard tries to have bottles of all times and all materials from the ancient era until the mid-twentieth century, their period of predilection is the Middle Ages because, that it is the return to the use of perfume through the “pomme d’ambre”!

From the French “pomme d’ambre” or apple of amber, this small object, often divided into quarters, was used to carry dry perfumes or small scented sponges. These powerfully odorous substances were thought to protect against the miasmas of epidemics. Worn on the belt, as a pendant or held in the hand, pomanders were an item of dress and crafted like real jewelry.
The commanders and their favorites since at the time the bottles were considered as jewels and they can also get a lot of inspiration in the past in objects that have pre-existed before us. And then with these ideas, they go back toward the light and toward the east toward the production of Fragonard with all these perfumes and with this spirit and light and colors.

The Perfume Museum in Grasse exhibits some one hundred rare perfumery objects from antiquity to the present day. The collection is further enhanced by paintings of women grooming and Provencal furniture. Jean-François Costa had a special taste for 18th century objects and, amongst other things, built up one of the richest collections of pomanders.
Françoise Costa the owner of the Fragonard factory explains the inspiration of their products' packaging: "It's the colors of the French Riviera, it's the lights it's the simple products that come from the inspiration that I find in our collections and that I put in place every year, thanks to the collaboration of my team, and twice a year I build stories around the products we love!"

Fragonard is famous for its gold flacons and it is a bit of an accident. Their grandmother Emily Costa, during the war, had difficulty in obtaining supplies of glass bottles so she had the idea to use the silver aluminum bottles instead of glass bottles. The idea liked it so much that they keep it today.
This is Fragonard's distinguishing feature: combining art, family and ideas!
